Our podcasts are 5-8 minutes in length. We create these messages using one or two brief verses from the Bible that come from a devotional book. Our purpose is to help you hear the grace of Jesus in these verses so that your life may find its grounding in Christ alone. CELEBRATE GOSPEL FREEDOM WITH THE 500 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE LUTHER’S WEDDING! In 1525, Martin and Katy discovered the freedom of becoming a married couple. We are going to retrace the steps of freedom in Christ that led to marriage as a gift of God for this monk and nun. In 1945, Berlin discovered the freedom from the Nazis and then in 1989, the freedom from the Soviets. We will walk the streets of Berlin and Leipzig to learn what freedom meant to these people and how praying the Daily Texts was part of setting the East Germans free. Dresden rebuilt its amazing cathedral after the awful fire bombing of that city by the Allies during WW 2. In this recreated center of freedom we will worship the One who makes all things work together for good. Herrnhut was a place of freedom for those persecuted Moravians who found refuge on the property of Zinzendorf. The Daily Texts became their life line of freedom to our Lord during their amazing history following in the steps of Jesus around the world as missionaries. Prague will reveal the roots of the Moravian faith in the life of Jan Hus. His convictions led him to stand fast for the gospel and the birth of a church that had 400,000 followers at the time of Martin Luther. We will explore his steps of freedom. Mount Carmel family camp ends its summer family and adult week long ministry today. This week has been a GUG week with Sonja and me preaching at Mount Carmel. Dr. Dan Van Voorhis has been teaching on church history with the theme of how does our understanding of church history set us free for ministry today. Dan is from the 1517.org teaching ministry. He has a daily podcast, Chruch History Almanac, which is available through 1517.org. One blessed part of his being here this week is that in 2018, I met David and Cynthia Robinson in Minneapolis when they were coming to their son’s wedding. They had been helped tremendously through the podcasts and written material produced by 1517.org. I was working for 1517.org at the time. That meeting in April of 2018 has led to the wonderful relationship we have enjoyed ever since which all of us experience with the Tuesday Irishcast. David and Cynthia will also be hosting us on our tour of Ireland and Scotland which begins on Friday, August 30. It was a gift to have their podcast playing for us with a teacher from 1517.org at Mount Carmel.

Mount Carmel staff served faithfully through August 6. This photo shows you all of them who were called to help this summer. Our older adult week is called an “elderversity.” There are 8 more learning weeks coming up this fall for the Awaken project. There are six students enrolled. In addition there are five students who will be part of this community who will live here while attending Alexandria Community College. Thanks be to God for all the ways He is working things for good here.
