As your hosts, we are grateful to share life with you. There are many times in our lives when we have felt poor and needy. Loved ones have died. Health has become poor. Financial strain produces stress. Through it all, we are reminded that the Lord loves and cares for us. In this world you will have trouble. Jesus promises to see us through the trouble safely into the Father’s embrace unto eternity. Hardship and suffering is not a sign of God’s lack of love for you. It simply is the condition of a fallen world. But, Jesus has overcome the world and is the way, the truth and the life everlasting. Be encouraged. He loves you. (Today’s Philippians 4:13 image was created by Ground Up Grace to show all the difficult situations that St Paul experienced that helped him know the truth of this promise. Know that when you suffer difficulties like St Paul did, Jesus is there to strengthen you.)
As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me.
Psalm 40:17
I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:12-13
Wise and mighty teacher, you have allowed me to learn to trust in you for all things. I give you thanks for experiences that draw me closer to you. You are always thinking of me. With your courage and your strength, I can do hard things. I give you all the glory! Amen.
