(Sundaycast) God’s Word Says Eat, Trust And Go (1 Kings 19:7; Acts 27:34) (Trust)

Elijah is fed twice by his Father in Heaven. This image painted by Paul Oman this past summer shows Elijah by the Kerith Ravine where the ravens were ordered to feed him. 1 Kings 17:4 declares, “You will drink from the brook and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there.” In today’s reading from 1 Kings 19, Elijah was running from the anger of Jezebel, when he ended up under the broom tree. He prayed that he might die. But an angel of the Lord touched him and told him to “get up and eat.” This happened twice for Elijah. The powerful element of this experience is that Elijah needed both God’s words to encourage him as well as the food that was prepared. Just as Elijah needed help, so also we need a voice from outside ourselves to direct us to do what we need to do. Trust our Lord to speak to you, to touch you and to give you the food you need for the calling ahead of you this day.
