What are some of the habits that you practice that lead you to greater perseverance and endurance in your calling to follow Jesus? One that I forgot to mention is listed above. It’s basically the 12 steps in nine words. These nine words have done more to save my marriage than any bouquets of flowers or boxes of chocolates or acts of kindness that I could’ve done. It’s basically taking responsibility for have said or done something that was wrong. And not trying to pretend I didn’t do it. These nine words help us to stop playing games, get real and build our relationships that have eternal significance. It’s what these verses today are aimed at helping us experience.
They shall ask the way to Zion, with faces turned toward it, and they shall come and join themselves to the LORD by an everlasting covenant that will never be forgotten.
Jeremiah 50:5
For this very reason, you must make every effort to support your faith with excellence, and excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with godliness, and godliness with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love.
2 Peter 1:5-7
Loving God, thank you for turning my face toward you. You are the source of all good gifts-faith, resilience, friendship, and love that moves mountains. I gladly receive your everlasting promise. Thank you for intervening when I've wandered. You set me on a sunlit path, your way of blessing a broken world that needs your enduring care. Amen.
