We know that God is love and we also know that God is life. How do you receive the life and love of God so that you realize your very breath conveys the life and love of God? Today’s texts challenge our perceptions of power and of performance. We need to repent. We need a second thought. We need to be humble enough to let the life and love of God breathe through us.
In his hand is the life of every living thing.
Job 12:10
Then Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." Having said this, he breathed his last.
Luke 23:46
God of the cross, you carry the world in your hands. Thank you for hearing my voice, even as you heard and answered Jesus. When I magnify myself, let me give up my spirit to you. Today and on my final day, let me offer my hands to your loving task of caring for every living creature. Amen.
