Jesus is praying for you. He says this in John 17, “you are a gift given to me by the Father.” You are being prayed for right now. And St Paul says He is praying for you. Romans 8:34 declares that Jesus is praying for you. Hebrews 7:25 also assures us again that Jesus is praying for you. You are surrounded and supported by the prayers of God. So why pray? If prayer means this much to Jesus, the creator of the heavens and the earth, then why not us. We also need to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
He will regard the prayer of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.
Psalm 102:17
The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
Lord, I envy the power of the righteous one's prayer. I am not righteous, except that you erase my sin. You make me blameless through your death and gift of life. You bring me back when I flee from you. Please, Lord, give me a humble spirit. Give me boldness in prayer and active compassion for others. Amen.
