How often do you bow down to the earth when you pray? Bowing as a sign of humility is often found in relationships of submission. We all know the story of Daniel whose friends did not bow before the King’s statue. But do we bow before God when we pray? The picture shows emojis of Joseph’s brothers bowing before him.(Gen 42:6). This act of humility was in his dream. We know one day “every knee will bow” when Jesus returns (Phil 2:10). But until that day, what would it mean for us to bow down as we pray?
The heavens are the LORD's heavens, but the earth he has given to human beings.
Psalm 115:16
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name.
Ephesians 3:14-15
Lord, the heavens declare your glory. I kneel before you and worship you from your footstool! Shine your face upon me this day. Keep me from all evil. Thank you for Jesus who has saved me from the curse. You are mindful of all that is needed to live out my life. Keep me in your grace and favor. Amen.
