Praising Through Our Self Pity (Psalm 113:3; Revelation 14:7) (Discipleship)

The sun rises and sets on all that God has made. Today’s texts help us claim the promise of praise as we follow Jesus. One of the ways we take up our cross and follow Him is to sacrifice our self-pity with songs of praise. God is able to do far more than anything we can think of or imagine so let God have your pity party by turning it into a banquet of praise. Consider the roses that bloom around the cross in the photo. Remember that their beauty and fragrance is also surrounded by thorns. Christ wore the cross of thorns on His brow for our sakes. Your self-pity becomes His thorns. He wore those for you and for me so that our life can be filled with the fragrance of a rose that overwhelms all with His praise.

Prayer

Lord, all things living adore you and give thanks for your gift of life. Sometimes, the cares and concerns of my life overwhelm me, and I become a complainer. Grant me your grace to seize each day as an opportunity to live joyfully in you and to praise you for my life. Amen.
