Today’s Psalm 146:8 confirms the expectation that God is the one who gives sight to the blind. We find this testimony in John chapter 9, when a man who was born blind wonders why the Pharisees don’t believe God’s word that declares that only God can give sight to the blind. But in addition to Psalm 146, Isaiah also proclaims that the coming Messiah will do these things Jesus is doing according to what He says in Luke 7. Isaiah 35:5 declares he will give the blind their sight. In Isaiah 35:6, the lame will walk. In Isaiah 61:1, leprosy will be healed. The deaf hear in Isaiah 29:18 and the dead are raised in Isaiah 26:19. The good news is preached to the poor in Isaiah 61:1. The Messiah will do these things. Jesus is doing these things. How blind can anyone of us be not to admit that Jesus is God and He is the Anointed One, the Messiah? (Our art today was created by one of our Florida speakers as a quick way of referring to these 6 references to the prophesied Messiah powers and those we see in Jesus. The extra art produced for today did not transfer. Just have to imagine what was produced.)
The LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
Psalm 146:8
And he answered them, "Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight; the lame walk; those with a skin disease are cleansed; the deaf hear; the dead are raised; the poor have good news brought to them."
Luke 7:22
