The title chosen for our podcast today, by our Irish friends, is almost identical to the title of the book written by Gretchen Quie. Gretchen was the wife of the former Minnesota Congressman and Governor Al Quie. In her preface to the book, Gretchen writes about the humility she feels by being asked to write an autobiography. You can read this preface by downloading the prayer journal for today. But you’re in for a surprise. In the forward for the book, Chuck and Patty Colson tell how significant their relationship has been with the Quie family. Their testimony reveals the humility of this couple in a way that you will probably never read anywhere else. The Potter’s hand works His humble will in all of us as only God can.
Yet, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.
Isaiah 64:8
But who indeed are you, a human, to argue with God? Will what is molded say to the one who molds it, "Why have you made me like this?"
Romans 9:20
Thank you, Creator, for claiming me as your handiwork. You have named me and chosen me to bear your mark forever. When I see what I have broken, remove my shame and remind me that it is you who makes me new every morning. Take the fear of being myself, so I can celebrate being broken, loved, and restored. Amen.
