Jeff gives a solo reflection today. He is visiting his Father in Oregon to celebrate his 90th birthday. The watchword of the week: 1 Peter 1:23 — "You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God” combined with today’s texts forms mission theology in miniature. One, God always is the initiator is never passive but active (God arises, pronounces, saves); Two the gospel MUST be preached to all nations (God desires that none should perish), and 3) The proclaimed gospel is the mechanism by which the Holy Spirit regenerates the believer and saves. We are privileged, at any age, young or old, to be proclaimers of Jesus Christ, his atoning sacrifice and death and resurrection that brings forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
The earth feared and was still when God rose up to establish judgment, to save all the oppressed of the earth.
Psalm 76:8-9
And the good news must first be proclaimed to all nations.
Mark 13:10
Lord of all, your will is that everyone comes to the knowledge of the gospel. Thank you that I am part of the proclaimers, bringing the gospel to those in my family and neighborhood. Forgive me for holding back and not rising up to the challenge. Help me to follow your lead and go to others with good courage. Amen.
