(Wheaton) Five Guys And The Bible (Ps 35:18; Phil 2:11) (Faith)

Wednesday in Holy Week ends with a special supper at the home of Simon the Leper. It might be called Simon the former Leper. Actually all of those invited have a “former” in their name. None of the guests was perfect. Everyone had an imperfection that the perfect person fixed. And these formerly imperfect ones are laughing because the One who perfected them is rejoicing with them as they eat together. God’s grace makes us laugh. We are free from our need to make much of ourselves. In this second to the “Last Supper” laughter is on the menu because the source of their joy has made everyone laugh. Next time you are invited by Jesus to dinner, expect to be laughing.

Old Testament Verse

Then I will thank you in the great congregation; in the mighty throng I will praise you.
Psalm 35:18

New Testament Verse

Every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:11

Prayer

Provider God, thank you for the mighty works you perform. My whole being praises you in worship and in my quiet times of prayer. As I confess you as Lord, I realize how small and insignificant my life seems. When I give thanks to you my heart is flooded with your presence. Glory to you this day! Amen.
