Happy New Year from the Mission Cast! Jeff and his sister Barbara discuss the “Daily Texts” from Hood River, Oregon. Their father recently had emergency vascular surgery and is thankfully recovering steadily. Mim is in Orange County, Los Angeles where she just concluded a 4-day Day Camp for Chinese Immigrant Children. We will hear more about her camp next week. Today Jeff and Barbara discuss the truth of our hidden life in Christ, the profound truth that we are in Christ as Christ is in us and what that means for daily missional living. Jeff references M. Robert Mulholland Jr.’s book, “The Deeper Journey” and the concepts of the false self and the false religious self, where we live a life either without God or with God but in a box and live on our own terms. We discuss the true self which is surrendered and open to Christ, so that loving God and loving Others are synonymous. Such a life requires a radical submission and trust in the Lord — whose is the way, the truth, and the life. God is always true and faithful to himself, because he cannot deny his character. The same God who was faithful in your life last year will be faithful again this year. We wish you all a great new year!
O LORD, do your eyes not look for truth?
Jeremiah 5:3
Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you.
3 John 5
My Lord, you are the way, the truth, and the life. You see through my times of hypocrisy, pretense, and going through the motions. Help me to be open and honest with you always. I want to live the truth, not just believe it. Let me see opportunities to serve faithfully my brothers and sisters in you. Amen.
