The Devil Cannot Break Through Christ’s Promises (Ps 125:2; John 17:15)

The mountains that protect us from the attacks of the Evil One are the promises of God. Today’s podcast gives you some ideas for fighting the good fight of faith against the wiles of the devil. But one thing is certain, because you are in Christ and Christ is in you, will be attacked. The Evil One hates you because you are Christ’s. When you were baptized into Christ, you were marked. You died. And you now walk in newness of life with Christ (Romans 6:3-4). One of the Psalms whose words shield us from the Evil One is Psalm 16. The image above is one that was created many years ago for a sermon on this theme. The words around the edge of the shield are written as the voice of Jesus for you, the Shepherd’s Voice. If you want a printed copy of this Psalm 16 shield of God’s word against Satan’s voice, just print it off in the PDF form below. Share this with anyone you know who is fighting this battle. Read the words aloud to them that are written around the edge of the shield. You will break the Evil One’s grip over them.

Old Testament Verse

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people from this time on and forevermore.
Psalm 125:2

New Testament Verse

Jesus prayed, "I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one."
John 17:15

Prayer

Jesus, my Lord, you pray for me and protect me from the evil one. You surround me, from this time on and forevermore. Don't let me forget, for I easily can. Instead, empower me to proclaim your good news in this lost world. Someone needs you. Give me eyes to see this one and to share with boldness. Amen.
