Jeff and Mim discuss where they have recently seen God’s life among the Chinese Immigrant community. Mim also shares a personal story of healing as the result of prayer. Both discuss the importance of calling upon the name of the Lord in prayer in times of trouble, praise, and thanksgiving (cf. Luther’s Small Catechism, 2nd Commandment) as a sign of public witness to God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. We experienced recent Chinese immigrants sharing the joy of how they came to discover the love of Jesus Christ for them through the loving witness of others at the Chinese Lutheran Church of Honolulu, Hawaii. The Apostle Paul’s admonished: “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” In these two pictures Zhu Ming is washing a child’s feet and then helps him to wash another child’s feet, while teaching him about Jesus who loved and washed his disciples feet. Don’t be afraid to name Jesus. He is our Savior and Lord, in whom we have forgiveness, redemption and everlasting life.
Give us life, and we will call on your name.
Psalm 80:18
Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice.
Luke 17:15
I praise and thank you, God, for the truth that, "underneath are your everlasting arms." Jesus has revealed that your grace and life surround me on every side. Forgive me for my doubts and fears. Set me free to praise you with a loud voice that all around me may hear. Amen.
